Week of Oct 8th

   Hello families! I have not been doing well at blogging lately with parent teacher conferences, so I'll try to catch us up! This week we are learning about the needs of a pumpkin and its life cycle. We are trying to be prepared for our field trip on Friday (which we are super excited about!). We are also working hard in writing to add details to our illustrations. We have been working on letter sounds and stretching our words in our writing. In math we have been working on our 2D shapes and creating and extending patterns.
  Our class chose our first two Terrific Kids, congratulations to Alisa and Kaden M.!

Parent Info!

Hello! Just wanted to let you know about some important things coming up at our school soon.
*Thursday Sept 6th will be our Back to School Bash! You will have time to come in and see our classroom and have your child share some of their work. There will also be FREE hot dogs (Who can say no to free hot dogs?). See you Thursday night from 5:30-7:30!
*Study Island is a great program that our district has purchased for students to practice ELA (reading, writing, words, etc) and Math skills. I will be sending home a sheet with login information for your child. I just wanted to stress how important I think this website is! It links up the exact standards that are being taught in class and gives students extra practice with those skills. I encourage you to let your child try to answer the questions on their own, don't do it for them :) There is even a little speaker button that your child can push to have the question read for them. Go ahead and bookmark this site now...

School has started and we're all enjoying getting to know each other. We have been reading the fabulous book, I Love My White Shoes, with Pete the Cat. Mr. Eric is one of my favorite authors and singers. Just remember, no matter what happens...."It's all good!" Hope you enjoy watching Pete the Cat read by the author, Mr. Eric.

Animals, Animals!

Do you like animals? I found this great website that shows  you animals in the San Diego zoo. You can watch animals on the zoo cam by clicking here. I had a lot of fun watching the animals. The Panda bear was sleeping and the elephant was giving himself a dust bath!

A Good Book!

  Did you know that you can help your child get ready for 4k just by reading a book? Reading books help your child learn early reading skills and develop good oral language. Don't forget to take a few minutes to talk about the book and ask them questions too!

Hello families! It is almost the end of summer vacation and I am getting excited about the upcoming school year. I hope that you enjoy checking out our class blog.
